Kokani Irene, (Eirini)

BIOGRAPHY

I am a proud alumnus of the School of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where I studied from 1987 to 1993. My journey towards specialization in Cardiology commenced with a two-year Pathology training at the Pathological Clinic of Veria Hospital. My proficiency in the subject was recognized with an excellent evaluation. This set the stage for an intensive four-year training in Cardiology at G. Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki, where I once again received an excellent assessment.

In pursuit of further academic excellence, I earned a postgraduate degree in Occupational and Environmental Health from the National School of Public Health (2013-2014), graduating with distinction.

From 2003 to 2020, I worked at the Public Power Corporation (DEI SA), covering their Service Units based in Kozani Prefecture. This role enabled me to secure my spot on the Special Register of Occupational Physicians of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Social Solidarity, and continue my professional journey as an Occupational Physician in various business environments.

Since 2002, I have been working as a Cardiology specialist in a private practice based in Ptolemaida, and I continue to serve in this capacity to date. To augment my professional capabilities, I secured an Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.

I'm deeply committed to cardiology, shown by my active membership in both the Hellenic Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. I continuously expand my knowledge by attending a variety of Greek and international conferences, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE - CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

I began my professional journey as a devoted rural doctor at Tsotyli Health Center, serving the community from 1993 to 1995. The next stepping stone in my medical career was joining the team at the General Hospital of Veria as a Pathology Resident. This was a formative experience that took place from 1995 to 1997, and it played a significant role in shaping my interest and expertise in Cardiology.

Following my passion for Cardiology, I further specialized as a Cardiology Resident at the prestigious General Hospital of G. Papanikolaou, where I developed my skills from 1997 to 2001.

Since 2002, I've been running my own private practice where I pour my heart into providing top-notch cardiology services. My approach to patient care centers on responsibility, consistency, extensive scientific knowledge, and a dash of personal touch, offering a uniquely human approach. Over the years, I've had the privilege of treating numerous patients with varied severity cases, offering me a rich experience across the spectrum of Cardiology. I've also had the opportunity to collaborate with reputable tertiary centers, further enhancing my expertise.

From 2003 to 2020, I worked as an Occupational Doctor for the Public Power Corporation (DEI). Here, I not only provided medical care but also supervised the implementation of preventive check-ups for the company's employees. My role was hands-on and vital in the certification of the Business Units according to the ISO standard, benefitting a whopping total of 1000 employees.

SCIENTIFIC WORK

During my specialization in cardiology, I made presentations at both Greek and international conferences.

I attended the postgraduate program of the National School of Public Health in Athens (2013-2014) and acquired a postgraduate degree in Occupational and Environmental Health with an excellent grade. I developed a thesis titled "Recording of Workplace Accidents in the DEI Power Plant, AHS Kardia," which was accepted and presented at the 2nd Panhellenic Conference on Health and Safety at Work.

I hold an Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification following my participation in a two-day educational seminar recognized by the European Council for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This program is designed to train healthcare professionals in managing and responding to cardiac arrest and related emergencies.

I consistently renew my ALS certification to remain adept at handling emergency situations.

I have participated in numerous Greek and international conferences, continuing to evolve and stay updated on issues related to the field of Cardiology.
